Rules
Based on research
This game is based on a psychology study by Arthur Aron et al. that found 36 specific questions can create closeness between strangers. Read the study
- Sit down with a partner or a small group. Set aside at least 20–45 minutes.
- Take turns reading a question out loud. Both people answer each question before moving on.
- Alternate who answers first so a different person goes first each time.
- Divide your time into three equal parts. Spend the first third on Set I, the second third on Set II, and the last third on Set III.
- Move on to the next set when the time is up, even if you haven't finished all the questions. Each set is designed to be more personal than the last.
- Listen with curiosity, be honest, and enjoy getting to know each other on a deeper level.
